Not sure which forum area this question is a best fit for, but I just setup a box as  a router/firewall for a client.  They have a verizon DSL.  I set the DSL modem to bridge mode, and configured the PPOE properties for the WAN interface in pfsense.  I've got over 6 mo's under my belt as a pfsense user at home, but this is my first wan config with PPOE.  After I set it all up, I had to go into the interface properties and hit "connect" to connect.  It's  been fine for over 2 days, but what behavior should I expect with PPOE in the following scenarios:

      1. I restart the firewall
      2. the DSL modem is accidentally unplugged, and then re-connected
      3. weather or other unknown interference on the phone lines causes the DSL to disconnect

I guess what I'm getting at is. . will the ppoe automatically attempt to connect at boot, and will it attempt to re-connect if the connection is interrupted?

      Thanks,

      -Rich

Why PPOE? How about letting your router set to auto dial your isp?
