Checked the snapshots directory to upgrade my Alix board and noticed no 8/5 updates to the 512mb images..  Is 512mb, the cf cards netgate provide in their kits no longer sufficient and no longer supported?

It will come back, it probably just hasn't been generated yet. Be patient.

The snapshot server had some issues recently, and if images disappear it's probably because there was an issue with that builder run.

Just curious, why does each image need to be "generated" assuming rebuilding from the source.  Couldn't the images be "resized" with a script?  It'll be much more consistent between the various build sizes.  Afraid that errors will creep in for one sized image and be OK in another.  It'll be difficult to pinpoint bugs.

Notice there is finally a new 512mb image  "pfSense-1.2.3-512mb-20090807-0139-nanobsd.img.gz"  ;D

Though I'm gonna let it age a few days before upgrading from 1.2.2 as a previous upgrade attempt went badly and had to downgrade.

It's not that simple. To see why, check out the tools source at rcs.pfsense.org.
