      I have this wistron cm9 (atheros 5004 iirc) in a netgate Alix kit (3E 2D3 I think).
I would like to setup the card for dual ssid's, which I thought was possible, but I don't see how to do so.
      Running pf 1.2.3 rc.

Is this possible?ย  If so, I could use a step by step or at least a good shove in the right direction please.
If not possible, what hardware would I need to do so?

Ultimately I'm trying to achieve a wireless LAN w/ captive portal (probably unsecured) and another wLAN w/o captive and secured (WPA or WPA2).

      Thank you much,
      J.

This is not possible in pfSense yet, and won't be in the 1.2.x line.

pfSense 2.0 will be based on FreeBSD 8 and that will bring in the capability for "VAPs" or Virtual Access Points, which will allow you to run multiple SSIDs out of a single radio. That functionality is not there quite yet, however.

Thanks for the reply Jimp (even if not the one I was looking for :( )

          When you say:

          @jimp:

That functionality is not there quite yet, however.

are you saying that even in the current 2.x (alpha? beta? whatever?) that this functionality isn't up to par yet?

Any thoughts on when it might be and/or when the 2.x branch might get to a 'stable' (or RC or public beta, etc) that might be usable in a light production (e.g. residence) use?

I don't plan on holding you to it but I could use at least a ballpark timeline so I know what to do next w/ regards to a particular client.

          Thanks much,
          J.

The code is there in FreeBSD 8, but there is no pfSense code to use it yet.

No idea on 2.0. It's in a feature freeze, but it's still quite alpha. It will be several months, probably early next year sometime, but don't quote me on that.
