I moved my pfsense implementation off of it's own dedicated server to vmware server 2.0.2 this morning. All my required features are working.

    here's what i did:

clean install of ubuntu 9.10 server, only option enabled was sshd
installed vmware server 2.0.2 using this guide https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VMware/Server and the included script
installed pfsense 1.2.3-rc1 and imported my backup

this was all smooth, all of my requirements (PBR, load balancing, firewall rules) worked great.

    issues:
the interfaces don't come up on their own in ubuntu (they do in pfsense). i opened this tread for info on this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1391900 - this would mean that i would have to be sitting at a console if the host OS rebooted. kinda sucks.

next, how secure is this? the host interfaces have no IPs assigned to them. the only port with an IP is my lan port, all others just receive traffic which is bridged to pfsense.
