Intermittent Internet

Hi Sir/Mam,

I Install pfsense with the following function, Multi Wan, Vlan Router and Captive Portal. Our Network are like this diagram. I dont setup Load balancing with failover. It just Multi wan Only.

vlan2 = wan1
vlan3 = wan2
vlan4 = wan2

captive portal set to vlan2

wan 1 wan 2

My Problem are the internet connection of WAN1 are intermittent. Accidentally when I troubleshoot the problem. I reset the firewall state table. Then for the few minutes the Internet connection are going to stable. Then it became intermittent again then I reset it again.

Any solution for this problem. Maybe I set something wrong with the configuration.

You need to provide a lot more information about your setup, starting with what version of pfSense you are using: embedded/nanobsd/full install/etc and if it's a snapshot, the date and time on it.

Also, you might try to increase your state table size. Each state uses about 1K of RAM, so even on smaller devices you should be good with 50,000 or 100,000 state max.

Hi Sir,

I use PFsense 1.2.3-RC1 Full Version, built on Wed Apr 22 15:36:34 EDT 2009.

My Experience are when the internet are became intermittent. The only solution are to reset state table, Restart Modem/Router Or restart PFsense. Please guide me a little. Thanks.

You may have a bad image. There were some bad RC1 images which didn't properly expire the state table.

1.2.3-RELEASE is happening today. It's already built. When it's announced, update to that and you should be fine.

Thanks Sir, I really stuck with this problem. I try to re-install pfsense and put router before isp modem. But the problem still there. Thanks.
