    Hi,

I configured captive portal with HTTPS login page and it works fine with PCs but if an iPod try to use the portal, I get an error in Safari.

I use self-signed SSL certificate on the HTTPS page, maybe it's the problem.

It works fine on the iPod if the login page is HTTP only.

Is there a solution to this because I would like to keep HTTPS.

    Thanks

It sounds like you either need to buy a commercial SSL certificate, or get the iPod to trust the certificate or the CA for the certificate that you are using. I don't have an iPod so I wouldn't know the first thing about it, but I'm sure you could search elsewhere to find out if that's even possible.

Thanks, right now I just switched back to HTTP.

        I'll dig this later.

In our setup we use https and a commercial SSL (geotrust) and don't have issues.  Might be something to consider.

Those look awfully expensive. If you were just going to use self-signed anyway, you obviously aren't too concerned with trust (nothing wrong with that). Check out the RapidSSL from Namecheap.

If my captive portal "HTTPS server name" is "mywifi.local", how can I activate an SSL certificate from namecheap.com ?

I ask, because during the activation process you need to receive an email at something like "admin@mywifi.local"…I guess I'm missing something, help please.

                  Thanks
