    Can't load pfSense on ESXi 4.1

      I'm not sure i'm going about this the right way, but this worked for most of the other appliances that I have used in the past.

      I DL'd the file (latest stable for VMware).
      Unzipped to directory
      uploaded directory to datastore vie vsphere client
      clicked on the vmx file and hit add to inventory.
      I walked through the defaults, but in the end it says the vm is unknown and invalid.

      what can I do here?

        try using vmware converter select your vmx and convert it to esxi.

          Its the difficult way to do it….Just DL the ISO file and install normally via VM console....

            Ok, got it.  thanks.  It took me a few shots, but the converter worked in the end.  I'll start with this and maybe load from iso on the next build.
