Ping dns is not work

hi,i am a newer of pfsense,i set the WAN ip,gateway,dns  in the system,
ping gateway, it is work, when i ping dns,the result is  " sendto: Host is down"

the sets is right,it good work on the router,
when i set in the pfsense,it not work,why?

if i set the dns to 8.8.8.8,i alse can surf the Internet,

Why on earth didn't it not work?

There could be any number of reasons, but from what little you've posted I'd guess that your chosen DNS server isn't working.
