Virtual Machines -> PFSense -> WAN interface -> Internet

Hi!

I have installed windows XP and FreeBSD (PFSense) on Virtualbox. I'm using Windows 7 as host OS.

Windows 7 (host):

• IP: 10.24.16.48/16

• Default gateway: 10.24.0.1

XP configuration (guest):

• IP: 192.168.1.5/24

• Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

• Network adapter on Vritualbox: Bridged Adapter: Realtek PCIe FE Familiy Controller (Is this good?)

How should I configure PFSense and which Network adapters should I use to make internet work on XP (guest)??

FreeBSD PFSense:

• Network adapter 1: ???

• Newtork adapter 2: ???

• WAN: ???

• LAN: ???

NAT might work, Bridge would be a better choice IMO (since that gives the pfSense host it's own IP).

It may also be that you need to configure the Windows firewall to allow the traffic.

Yes, XP can ping.

No.. i can't ping www.google.com

Try putting the pfSense's WAN interface into the bridge instead, that removes Windows 7's networking as part of your problem (at the moment you're trying to use it as a router, but you haven't configured it to do so).

i think problem is virtual network settings. You can find in pic1 my own vmware virtual network settings. I use vmnet0 for internet access and it is bridged with my host Ethernet. You should make vmnet0 bridge mode with your windows Ethernet card then you will ping to internet. If you send your virtual network image we i can help you.
