I'm trying to block Facebook during a certain time. I have an alias set up for Facebook following the instructions I've found on a number of different threads in this forum, but it's not working. I'm beginning to think it might not be a problem with my alias, but some other problem. I've tried going directly to a supposedly blocked IP from my browser (instead of going to the domain name that is associated with that IP), and it doesn't block it. I have another rule blocking all access to anything from a certain computer (on a schedule), which is working fine.

Did you included apps.facebook.com on your alias?

Yes. And blog.facebook.com and www.facebook.com and facebook.com (all of which return different IPs) Plus a dozen or so other IPs that I found to be associated with Facebook.

Did you checked if you do not have any rule or a transparent proxy that allow this traffic before your blocking rule?

Yes, I thought of that, but it's not. It's right below another blocking rule that is working.

Im using proxy server: access control, there i just wrote: facebook.com and then it got blocked…

But in my case, there is a slight litle problem with blocking https://facebook.com..

Have you figured out how to block that one?

If you are using transparent proxy, you can only filter http port. Move to automatic proxy detect/configuration(WPAD/PAC) to get it working.
