Intermittent Wireless Connection Problems With iPad and iPhone
-
Here is my setup:
1x Netgate 2D3 / 2D13 Red http://store.netgate.com/Netgate-m1n1wall-2D3-2D13-Red-P218.aspx
1x KIT-5004MP-245-DUAL Antenna kit http://store.netgate.com/KIT-5004MP-245-DUAL-P178.aspxI have a desktop computer, a macbook air, an iPhone, and an iPad.
So far as I can tell my desktop computer and macbook air seem to work just fine with my current networking setup. Sometimes I've noticed that the macbook air will need to dissconnect from the wi-fi and then reconnect.
However that is not the biggest issue. The biggest issue is that the iPad and iPhone cannot maintain a stable connection to the wireless network.
They never indicate that they have lost connection to the wi-fi however, they do not display webpages. You can surf for about 30seconds and then the connection will drop. The only way to get it back is to drop the wi-fi and reconnect. I've tried resetting all of these connections on both devices (forgetting network settings, etc…) to no avail.
Now the reason this has started happening is I've been trying to bridge the LAN and WLAN interfaces so everything is on the same network by following this guide: http://blog.qcsitter.com/BSDay/
Before that the interfaces looked like this:
LAN 192.168.0.x
OPT 192.168.1.x
WLAN 192.168.2.xNow after setting up the bridge the interfaces(I named the LAN <> WLAN bridge; Bridger) look like this:
Bridger 192.168.0.X
OPT 192.168.1.xHere are some screen shots, I'm trying to figure out why the connection is dropping.
I have the DNS setup to use my ISP's and I'm running pfsense 2.0.1

Are you by chance running WPA/WPA2 Enterprise option?
Take a snapshot of your wireless settings (on the interface page) if you don't mind.

If you have IOS5 on your Ipad and Iphone then it could be it that is the problem, not pfsense.
If you search for "ios5 wifi problems" you get 11.5 million hits on Google for example.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3381019?start=0&tstart=0Having the same problems with my Iphone and pfsense. Waiting for an update from Apple atm (5.0.1 didnt seem to do anything regarding wifi).

The iPad has one of the worst WiFi antennas I have seen in a device. It's rang is very limited; even my iPhone can get a signal when my iPad can't.
