Delay when adding new posts
-
I'm still experiencing delays..
-
Yeah its very frustrating when it happens.. Especially on say reporting a post, since there is no way to verify that it went in or not. With normal post - I just make sure I have a copy of what I posted and can move along - and can jump back into the thread and verify that it got posted. But with reports kind of just have to sit there ;)
So curious on not to distant future - since its been like 6 weeks since that statement ;)
edit: It seems to be random to be honest, this one went through right away no hang.

I have and currently am having this problem too.
Post a reply to a thread and it take nearly 2 minutes.
Windows 7 Enterprise Edition
IE 8If this one also delays, I'll resubmitt it with Safari to see if that makes any difference.

Yup the post using IE 8 was delayed. If fact I got here with Safari and opened the post be for IE returned to the forum.
So here is this reply post using Safari. Will it delay too? Let see.

Went through immediately, without delay, using Safari.

Seems the pfSense Boards are not IE 8 friendly.

The delay is not browser related, it happens at random. I have experienced it with multiple browsers and OSs and also experienced no delay under the same conditions.
Like Chris said earlier it's a backend problem.Steve

Well how about that. It just happened to me a moment ago with Safari.

As of yesterday this issue seems to have gone away. For me at least. With various OS/browser/device combinations posting new posts is fast.

test post speed
edit: that was fast, but clearly they have not updated to latest smf
Powered by SMF 1.1.16
I do believe 2.02 is the latest

it's hit and miss, nothing has changed. It's a lot more annoying to me than many of you, definitely a priority to get fixed, but at the moment it's a bit down on the list. Upgrading to SMF 2.x is a pain, but we'll get there in the next month or so.
-
Hmm, weird I've had no slow posts at all for at least two days vs probably 90% slow posts before.
Not any sort of problem really. :)Steve

It annoys me, but it's at least easily worked around. I just hit "show unread posts" for a new tab after submitting a post and let the old tab sit there in the background.
We'll have a job post up soon for a full time web developer (seeing this and you're an experienced front end web developer and designer interested in working with us full time? Email me - cmb at pfsense dot org). One of his/her first tasks will be upgrading us to SMF 2.0, as none of the rest of us have time.

Does this server run in virtual env + snapshots?
Are there additional plugins?Source for SMF 2.0:
http://download.simplemachines.org/I see many queries to this server (because many people read / post), are You sure Your hardware is capable to serve it? And will with SMF 2.0?

This is a known problem with SMF 1.1.16… It is not a problem with SMF 2.0.2 which I can confirm...
