"Master" captive portal for voucher management
-
Dear folks!,
We have 5 captive portals in different branches. Right now, we have voucher lists for each one of them.
However, it would be convenient if we had only one captive portal managing the list and then distributing it to the other CP's.
When a voucher code is used up, the master CP should be informed and update the slaves. It seems like a wiser idea than this hocus pocus would be to use radius auth that somehow verifies the voucher codes.
Has anyone implemented anything like this?
We are using IAS for most other authentication that isn't LDAP, but I'm not sure how to implement something like a voucher code with this (since the auth is AD backed).Does anyone have a clue?

user login CP form branch A, branch B, branch C, branch D and branch E.
but all of them will be redirect to Master CP and Master CP will do the authentication.
voucher only can be generate at Master CP ..actually im looking solution for this kind of scenario ..anyone pls :-[ ..thanks

asura,
this is supported in 2.0.1 release.
The scenario you are talking about explicitly.
If you setup on all branches other than master the sync settings under voucher screen of CP they will go and synchronize with master always for the login. -
That would be great, I have the same issue.
I think the voucher system uses RADIUS internally somehow, so maybe the config is exportable from the master and then all CP's would use a central RADIUS for authentication. -
Ermal, thank you for your answer.
I have noticed this setting.
However, doesn't that only synchronize when I create new vouchers?
And how about when a user uses up a code on a branch CP, would the expiration / time remaining on the voucher code be synchronized back to the master, and to all other branches from there?
How about when a code is used up on the master CP? Would the branch CP's be notified? -
thanks a lot ermal ..im on vacation for now.
im back at my office on sunday and i will look at the setting as u mentionedthanks again

You need to generate vouchers on it and only it.
The branch CP's will always ask master during login and synchronize their voucher status during it.
The master CP, since this is about vouchers, does not need to get any notification from branch because a voucher is a one-off timer. You trigger it and it exists up-to consumption.I.E. If a voucher is used in one branch and someone tries to use the same voucher on the other branches 'almost' the same behavior of voucher will be observed as if they logged on the same box. This was the design behind it.

I would guess it is on Services -> Captive Portal, click on Vouchers tab and scroll down to Voucher database synchronisation section.

thankss ..im will at that ::)

asura, have you tried the setting?
Will it sync back between portals when vouchers are used up or can one use each voucher on every CP?
