Rosewill RNX-N600UBE USB WIFI works
-
The Rosewill RNX-N600UBE specifically advertises the Chipset: Ralink RT3572.

I use it as a wifi client to cellphone hotspots as a backup emergency WAN. It uses the run adapter (don't forget the firmware load).
It works so far here, I got burned by other vendors changing chipsets so later shipments of 'the same SKU' didn't work. Many places don't consider the rev / chipset change as a product code change so buyers have no clue.
This one has good antenna extension as well. It's a USB wire that travels some distance to a brick / connection with two antennas.
My $0.02.

Nice looking device being a Rosewill.
Any problems at all using the Rosewill RNX-N600UBE Wireless USB as a Access Point?
I've been looking for a low powered access point for my first pfsense box setup.

Can you tell us what driver it uses? And can it be used in hostap mode?
Thanks. -
It uses the 'run' driver, and you need to put a line in the local bootup to get it to load firmware. It uses the release pfsense. It feels to be around 90 degrees F in client mode. I don't have other answers yet. Bump the thread in Dec and I'll try some other options. I'll be doing more tests in early Dec. and document it better.

I'm looking into buying the RNX-N600UBE to use as an access point on my pfsense box. Do you have any extra info following your tests?

I bought the Rosewill RNX-N600UBE and have set it up as an AP. Had to add the following lines to /boot/loader.conf```
if_run_load="YES"
runfw_load="YES"I've run into an issue were my iPhone 4S cannot connect to the AP, I tried connecting with security enabled and also without any security. Connecting with any laptop works fine.
