5Ghz PCI Wireless Card Compatible with pfSense?
-
Hello forum members,
I'm looking for a dual band PCI wireless card compatible with pfSense. I found this card http://bit.ly/14mttoY but according to this old post it's not compatible with pfSense. http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=26369.0 Is there known dual band PCI card compatible with pfSense?
Thanks,

I'd like a certain card, not a list please. :) And I need one for PCI not PCI Express.

Could someone please help me?

You want a card to act as AP or WiFi client only?
AP mode is supported on Atheros chipsets but not many other chipsets. I suggest an eBay search for "atheros PCI 5GHz" and search for dual band devices among the results.
You might get a good result with a mini-PCI card (for laptop) and a mini-PCI to PCI adapter.

I'd like it to be a wireless AP. Could you give me a few links?

This is to bump the topic. :)

Is there such thing as a PCIe to PCI adapter? If so could I use that?

You want a link to eBay? You don't know how to do a search on eBay?

I don't know of any PCIe to PCI adapters. If I recall correctly I have seen mni-PCI to PCI adapters on eBay particularly suited for WiFi (detachable external antennae).

If you don't want to use eBay, take a look at http://pcengines.ch and click on the Shop link. They have a number of dual band Atheros based mini-PCI cards for sale. Since pfSense is a popular system to run on their Alix boards they might be prepared to "guarantee" a particular card will work with a particular version of pfSense.
You would still need to source a mini-PCI to PCI adapter.

Thanks for everyone's help, but I'm just going to get a different computer. :)
