When a user clicks through the portal, upon redirection (to the url he was originally going to) the browser hangs trying to connect. Clicking a couple of times does work but not always. Google chrome uses an option to load pages faster "Predict network actions to improve page load performance" If i disable this, the problem goes away. This problem also exists on some versions on IE but i haven't looked at how to disable the equivalent option to see if the problem goes away.  This really needs to be fixed asap. If anyone can suggest a temp fix, i'm all ears.

Keep up the good work guy's

      update

here is how the untangle team fixed the very same problem with their portal implementation.

Also worth a note, m0n0wall does not suffer with this problem.

Interesting, we'll take a look and consider options, though it'll be a while unless someone wants to change our priorities (read: pay for it).

Yes it does. It does nothing different in that regard.

We had this issue with our captive portal page too, but redirecting to a landing page of our choice (and not the users previous request) seemed to have sorted this out.  We actually want to push users to our corporate website after going through the captive portal anyway, so worked out well.

I have to disagree here as i have been using monowall for a long time now and this issue has never happened to us.

Then the issue isn't as you've described in the linked URL because m0n0wall doesn't do anything differently than we do in that regard.
