IOS login screen problem
-
Hello,
after an iOS device connect over wifi to the network, a browser windows appears, where the user should login.
We have done some dns entries in pfsense to prevent this screen. It works for a private wifi, but if we set the wifi to public, the login screen appears again.
Does someone have a solution for this?
Thank you in advance.

What are you trying to do?
If you have the CP enabled but don't want the CP to show up, then simply disable it? -
We have an entertainment system on the LAN side. We just want the ios user to log into the LAN over wifi and open the safari browser to enter our system.
Some functions don't work in the ios login browser. Thats why we want to prevent this login screen. -
That little browser in an ios device isn't actually a "browser" as such. They call it the "Captive Portal Assistant" (CPA) and it exists only to help one log in to a captive portal.
The problem with ios devices is that they all want to see a certain web page within Apple before they will tell the user they have an Internet connection. Even if they actually have a connection. That web site is http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html
You can browse to it- it just says the word success. The way to eliminate a lot of ios/captive portal problems is to white list http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html
Some people take the easy way out and just whitelist apple.com
This may not be your problem, but I thought I would toss this out.
