PfSense VM with VM's accessing the web through it
-
Hello to all, I am trying to set up a virtual network within Workstation and have ran into a issue I am not able to work out myself. I am running a setup as follows: Web<–->Modem<--->Router<--->Windows 8.1 Host<--->pfSense VM<--->Windows 8.1 VM pfSense VM has 2 NIC's (1 host only(LAN) & 1 bridged(WAN))
Windows 8.1 VM with 1 NIC (Host only)After running network setup on pfSense, I can boot up the Windows VM and it will grab a IP that is within the specs I set in pfSense but I am not able to access the web.
I want to be able to boot up pfSense followed by Windows 8.1 VM and browse the web through it.
I have turned off both private network boxes because I am doing this setup within a private network and the IP that my pfSense WAN is grabbing is private. Is their something I may be overlooking that would prevent me from hitting the web from the Windows VM?
 Thanks for any help.

Can the pfSense VM access the internet? Also, out of curiosity, is there a reason that you're using that setup? It's not a good idea from a security prospective (since the attacker can just attack the host Windows machine) and from a routing perspective (since VMWare Workstation already has a lot of powerful routing tools built in).

And what network does pfsense get on its wan inteface? Lets say it was 192.168.1.0/24 and you are using 192.168.1.0/24 on pfsense lan – then yeah that is not going to work.. You need to use a different network on the pfsense lan then pfsense has on its wan.
