I was wondering if you managed to get this working? I have the same (or very similar) requirement, and after many searches I can't figure how to do this or even if pfSense supports this.

When I go to Interfaces -> Assign -> PPPs and create a new PPP interface there is an option to select L2TP as a Link Type. I filled in what I thought was sensible options, and then created a new interface using the L2TP as the 'Network port', but pfSense immediately rebooted after I enabled that interface and then went into a boot loop - each time during bootup when it enabled that interface it rebooted again.
To fix it I had to boot into single user mode and restore a backup config.xml file.

        My setup works like this:

I have an ADSL connection, using an ADSL modem in bridged mode and pfSense establishes a PPPoE connection, getting a DHCP assigned dynamic IP address. With this I can browse the internet.

My ISP then offers a static-IP option which I'd like to use. This is done through an L2TP tunnel, using the ADSL connection.

They provide the following configuration settings to get it working in a Billion BiPAC 7402GX router:

        Connection Type: Remote Access
        Type: Dial Out
        Sever IP: 196.30.121.50
        Username: Your DSL Username
        Password: Your DSL Password
        Authentication Type: PAP
        Tunnel Authentication: Yes
        Secret: h3lp
        Active as Default Route: Yes
        IPSec: No

Any ideas how I can get this set up in pfSense?

          Hi Andrem,

Were you able to solve this in the end?

          Thank you,
