        Step 1 - wipe hyper-v
        step 2 - install esxi
        step 3 - profit

        JK - my understanding there is no hyper-v drivers, but the 2.2 which is based on freebsd has drivers..

        Good luck, I am vsphere/esxi guy so above steps would be my plan ;)

          If you want to run 2.1.5 I'd recommend checking out this thread: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=73258.0

          These are the synthetic drivers compiled by zootie.

          I have been running 2.1.2 -> 2.1.3 -> 2.1.5 on Hyper-V with those synthetic drivers without any significant issues but my pfsense installation is basic and I have no additional packages installed. I'd highly recommend fully reading the thread (even the ranting that is occurring in it) before implementing those synthetic drivers.

          The other option I've seen recommended in the forums is to try the 2.2 beta build which includes support for Hyper-V. Personally I am waiting for a 2.2 stable release before going this route.

            cmb was saying in another Hyper-V thread that the synthetic drivers weren't that great.

              Did you mean this comment from cmb?

              @cmb:

              I'm sure he's using synthetic, the legacy type is really slow at a minimum if not unstable.

              Taxos: How much traffic you passing through the system in total when things slow down?

              I read that as his comment was the legacy drivers are a problem.

                Too bad I can't read as well.  That's exactly what he meant.  I had it backwards.  I thought he meant that the legacy driver was better than the synthetic one that Zootie guy hacked together.
