      Just FYI.  I have tested the binary update for Snort to version 2.9.7.2 and submitted the patch diff file to the pfSense team for review.  Once it is accepted and new PBI packages produced, I will submit an update pull request to the Packages repo.  Hopefully it won't be too long.

      Here is the Snort VRT announcement link for 2.9.7.2:  http://blog.snort.org/2015/03/snort-2972-has-been-released.html

      I know lots of folks are interested in Snort 3.0 as well, but it probably is not coming to pfSense until it is out of Alpha stage and into the FreeBSD ports tree.

          @simby:

          Any news?

          Nothing yet.  I sent a notification e-mail to the team over this past weekend.

          EDIT: Had a note in my e-mail I had not seen prior to posting the above.  I will be testing the new PBIs later this evening.  Should be able to get the update posted by the end of this week.

              The Pull Request for this Snort update has been posted for review and merge.  Here is a link:  https://github.com/pfsense/pfsense-packages/pull/836.  This update will be available for both the pfSense 2.1.x and 2.2.x releases.
