Yes. It will need some manual steps on console util pfsense 2.3.
If it's ok for you. I can send you initial steps. The last part(sqlite2/3 migration) I did once but lost the vm, so I'll have to code it again.

Thats what I did. The gui fix will work for pfsense 2.2 and above. The pbi binary problem will be fixed on pfsense 2.3 by pfSense team (it will be replaced by pkgng) but for now, on 2.2.x it needs a manual fix on console to remove pbi and add pkgng. I have tested it here and it's working fine.
