The reboot after the update takes forever. I'm waiting for half an hour. The computer needs about 3 seconds to print one character on the screen. Does anyone know thats going on?
Edit: found the issue
Warning: an issue was discovered post-release with a small minority of systems running a full install with no serial console enabled, where the boot is very, very slow because of a serial console-related change. Disabling the serial ports in the BIOS will work around this issue should you encounter it. -
What version are you updating from?

I was updating from 2.2.1, but disabling the serial IO port fixed it

Will there ever be a digital replacement for serial ports?
Yes, I understand that rack servers pretty much need a serial port.

Ummm…serial ports are digital. Your SATA hard drive talks to a serial port.
Analog ports were for pre-USB joysticks.RS-232 (or RS-422, or RS-485) will never die.

PCIe is serial, but I would never call it a "serial port".
But I guess serial ports are digital. I only ever used them for mice and modems and assumed the drivers were responsible for converting the signals. I guess I incorrectly assumed mechanical mice were analog. A bit of Google returned some stuff saying they are very resilient and simple, which means they are reliable. I could see that making them something good to have.

First time we've ever changed an update file post-release, but given the circumstances, and the fact it doesn't matter whether already-upgraded systems get the change, and the process of releasing includes days of testing, that was the best option available. All systems upgraded from here out won't need to worry about that serial console/slow boot issue.
So there is a 2.2.2 and a 2.2.2.1/2.2.2a release?
