I have ESXi on an HP server and followed the guide to setup PFsense and I am getting an error " no boot file name found.
https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/PfSense_2_on_VMware_ESXi_5
Using AMD 64 download ISO
uploaded ISO to my local storage
created VM with E1000 nicsplease help

You don't have the CD drive connected it appears, it's not finding any boot devices. The "no boot file name found" is PXE booting failing, unrelated to anything to do with the ISO.

please see my screen shot.
I am not using the CD drive. I am using an ISO pfsense.
Do i still need to connect the CD drive device in my vm ?

I resolved this.
I re-downloaded pfsense and converted the .gz to iso file.
something was wrong with my previous iso…. -
You need to check the Connect at power on box.
