Captive Portal Stops working after 24 hours
-
Hello all,
I have a dual NIC dell poweredge server running pfsenese 2.0.2-RELEASE (i386). The internet connection is AT&T Uverse using their provided router for the internet connection. The router's IP information is: 192.168.1.254/24. DHCP is enabled on the AT&T router. I did the default install of pfsense and enabled the local ip's on the WAN interface. The LAN interface is set up as 192.168.50.1/24. DHCP is enabled on the LAN interface. I enabled the Captive Portal with no authentication, a hard timeout of 1440 minutes, and a redirect page after they login…everything else is left default. The captive portal works 100 percent for approx 24-48 hours and then I start getting phone calls saying that people cannot see the login page to the captive portal. I walk them through checking to see if they are connected to the local network by going to command prompt and typing in ipconfig. They are getting IP's from the pfsense DHCP server, but when they open up internet explorer the page times out and they cannot surf the internet. I was doing some research in the documentation and it says that the most common problem with the captive portal page not showing is that there is a problem with DNS resolution, but why would it work for the first 24-48 hours perfectly and then not? Any help that anyone could give me would be wonderful! Thank you so much!

most likely the fastcgi crashing problem in 2.0.2. We're about to release 2.0.3, you can get the pre-release here.
http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,58203.0.htmlwhich will likely fix the issue.

Thank you very much for the fast response. I'll get it updated as soon as possible.
