What do you mean by "block"?

You have to remember that PFsense is a firewall not a UTM.  PFsense will not scan for the signature of an app and block it at layer 7 (someone correct me if they've added that functionality recently).

If you're not going to implement a UTM, the only recourse you have is to do your research on the application and create firewall rules for the IP's and/or ports the app is using, but depending on the app, it may be like trying to hit a moving target.
