Hi, I have a bug to report: every time I try logging into forum it says "Password incorrect" for the first time and then succeeds the 2nd time. I am typing in the same password both times. That's been going on for the last couple of days or so…

"I am typing in the same password both times"

        Sure you are ;)

Have your browser save your password, or use a password manger they cut down on typo's drastically!!!

I really am. It just happened again. It's a simple password and it says it's incorrect and the next time it works. It happened at least 10 times so far, really.

Make sure there is not a stray character in either of the password field or user name field.  Be sure they are both completely empty before starting.  Backspace and delete or ctrl-a in each before entering.

            Update:
My guess is there is a leading or trailing space in the user name field and after the first/failed attempt it is gone.

I have been on these forums for quite some time, and on multiple times a day and never have an issue..  Then again I have it set to stay logged in for log time.  But log out and log back in for testing this, just did it multiple times not an issue.  If your manually putting in the password it is user error.

I really don't get why anyone wants to type in passwords for websites?  I login to my lastpass and let it remember the passwords..  To be honest mine are so complex I would never be able to type them in ;)

Wife called me the other day because she needed the directv password, and I had to text it too her after looking it up in lastpass because its just random gibberish ;)  I have some when the site will allow that are 32 characters long ;)

I really couldn't even tell you what my pfsense password is - but its 12 random characters, and upon just looking at it - yeah I would F that up if I tried typing it in ;)  I just changed my work password and its really simple in the larger scheme - but the muscle memory when you type in the same password for so long and it changes can cause you problems..  Really - get a password manager would be my suggestion.

Use password manager, you're not typing the same password obviously.

In general, I would agree with johnpoz and Ivor most probably unknown/misremembered passwords are a common problem.

Another possibility is your browser is set to remember the password and has the wrong pw saved.
That can cause all kinds of grief.
A third (and much more remote) possibility is the presence of malware/virus/spyware/keylogging getting between you and the password entry.

Try a different browser, and/or a different computer.

I have seen similar behaviour on other sites, though not here, if you have load-balanced WANs. Connections coming from alternating addresses can confuse login status.
