I've had this happen a ton lately and it's really a pain because it seems like pfSense doesn't know to restart the VPN when the connection goes down.

At some point I get disconnected (as the client) from my VPN provider.  The link status shows as "down", however the service is still running.  If I try to "restart" the service, it doesn't work.  I have to completely stop it and then manually start it to make it work again.

This seems like a bug in pfSense but maybe I just don't have my VPN configured properly.  Although this is the same OpenVPN configuration I was using on my old router and it worked just fine.

Please help!  I can add screenshots if that will be easier!

I have had the same issues.

There are a number of old threads on this.  I find I have to manyually kill the process from the command line and then it'll work.
