Pre-authentication redirect is very slow - takes minutes
-
Hi,
we are on 2.2.4 and configured a pre-auth redirect with the captive portal.
We used the code provided by Jimp https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Captive_Portal_Pre-authentication_RedirectA few versions ago this worked perfectly for us. Now the redirect takes a minute or longer. We have no bandwith limit and already tested with activated (high) limit to override default values.
If we use post-auth redirect the redirection works normal.
Any ideas?

Hi,
Need some more information.
Jimp propsoes some choices on https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Captive_Portal_Pre-authentication_Redirect, so, what did you do:
Allowed IP or the are you using the hostname ?
(if it is hostname, use https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Captive_Portal_Troubleshooting to see == cecheck ipfw portal rules - if it is correctly resolved to an IP)What code on the 'php' page ?
What is your $PORTAL_REDIRURL$ ? -
Hi,
we use Allowed IPs and the script from jimp.
After many hours of searching we've found the error. The website we are redirecting to uses Wordpress. And Wordpress is using some style fonts from Google.
But Google IPs weren't listed in Allowed IPs, so the website took forever to time out the google font before loading the actual page. We've installed a Wordpress Plugin to deactivate Google fonts and now it's working like a charm!
Thanks for your help!

Even better, you could get rid of Wordpress altogether… :P
