Wireless WAN Release/Renew

I have a wireless WAN and it works like a champ, but after a while my speed drops from 36Mbps to 2Mbps which basically kills my internet usage.  If i hit release/renew my speed jumps back up to 36Mbps and I am good for a while longer.  Is there a way to automate the release/renew if my connection speed drops to say below 11Mbps?

I have put this in my /cf/conf/config.xml to set a fixed rate on my atheros wireless card. Hope it helps.

 <wan><if>ath2</if>
	 <mtu><media>OFDM/54Mbps</media>
	 <mediaopt><bandwidth>100</bandwidth>
	<bandwidthtype>Mb</bandwidthtype></mediaopt></mtu></wan> 

The line with <media>is what i have added.</media>
