Hi all, just had an idea that it could be a good idea to have a tip of the day for the forum.

      An examples could be

Adjust your device power options to either safe power or increase performance
see System: Advanced: Miscellaneous  Use PowerD

Users submit Tips and the best one is pick for that day/week.

Picked by whom? Whose job is that? What's their salary? Are you going to pay it?

The tips were for pfsense, not random unrelated topics!.

Such as enabling features people might not know about (see OP).

Picked by whom? Whose job is that? What's their salary? Are you going to pay it?

It would be a forum feature, people post their tips and users vote on it, the tip with the most votes gets selected for that tip for that day.

It was an idea to help give people ideas to improve their pfsense install.

The trouble is – this should somehow be officially sanctioned, instead of people posting random unverified crap as "tips". Then you end up with things like: Look, I followed this great "tip" and the box exploded -- pfSense suxxx!!!

I have thought about a similar idea of posting fairly short gifs that highlight different features of pfSense with a short description (140 chars or less…) in the hopes they get passed around the twittersphere. Maybe it is something that could also be community generated, we could post the specs of the gif (desired dimensions and length) and people could post their ideas...
