Thank you very much for your help.
BTW It's much more difficult than I think, many says UNIX have good HW support which seems bullshit to me, maybe Linux is better?
It's ridiculous that I cannot even have wireless on a professional level X86 firewall, haha, well-done.
I setting up this for more than 3 week ago, now still stuck at wireless. GOOD.

Well the Atheros mini-PCIe cards are well supported.
If you need USB wireless then you are stuck with RALink.. The RT5572 works well enough for me for simple configuration of the firewall and web browsing.
I will try out an RT3071 and see what it does.

Professional-level firewalls typically don't have wireless adapters.  Professionals use purpose-built access points, not USB dongles.

A comprehensive network diagram is worth 10,000 words and 15 conference calls.
DO NOT set a source address/port in a port forward or firewall rule unless you KNOW you need it!

In fact I have a Mikrotik Mini-PCI(not e) A/B/G card based on Atheros, but my build is desktop board so I can either use PCI(no E), or use a PCI to miniPCI adapter, but there's few that adapter and most are cheap Chinese product, I hate that…
Can you recommend a few working USB adapters for me?
              Thank you.

Thanks. But I prefer a wireless interface because I don't want another node that have to manage/wire up.

Linux firewalls make me crazy, they cannot have more than one LAN interface, WTF!
I tried IPfire and smoothwall and give up before finish set up, they support only one "green" port and cannot change many things in the webfig, that means I have to connect a keyboard and monitor EVERY time I change those settings. They don't even have a console menu like pfsense.
                  …..

You might be better off with a linksys then.

                      I'm using Linksys now.
I just want to change a flavor.

OK I just ordered a EW-7711UMn which is RT3070, hope it works.
                        Also I find this
                        http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=ndisgen&sektion=8
So I can use windows driver in FreeBSD and pf? Is it able for me to do it myself? I'm not so familiar with UNIX and CLI…

                          Yeah good luck with that.

I really don't understand why people insist on beating their heads against this particular wall.

                          Just get a damn AP.

You'd be happier just using the linksys you already have.

If your OK with 2.3 nightly's it should work. I have one and need to check. My RT5572/5592 works with the RT3071 rom.

Mikrotik Mini-PCI(not e) A/B/G card based on Atheros,

These work good but board must support 5-7W draw. Not all do well.

If you read Adriand blog post i linked to you will see there is no working UBS sticks that do 802.11n.*In FreeBSD

can either use PCI(no E), or use a PCI to miniPCI adapter

Absolutely. The china/ebay PCI adapters work. Routerboard actually makes one but it is EOL…

edit: Here is one. I see them on ebay too Rb11

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time with NDIS.
A wrapper around a windows driver. No thanks.

Thank you very much phishfry, I'll wait for my edimax dongle, if that don't work, I'll buy the mikrotik PCI adapter.
But still feel strange my buffalo not working, it's a RT3071.

By the time you're done you still won't have decent Wifi and you could have bought a ubnt.com unifi UAP-Pro instead.

Also be advised that most of those Mikrotik MiniPCI cards require MCX antenna pigtails.

I just tested another RaLink USB adapter I have RT5370. It worked in pfSense 2.3alpha as run0 in hostapd mode with RT3071 rom. It only  offers 802.11G and is only single chain or 1T1R aka 150M.

I bought these for the ARM boards I have been messing with.

I am finding it connects faster, probably due to external antenna. It also has no 802.11a mode either.
