Hi new to this software so go easy on me
I am trying to upload jpg files in file manager but seem unable to do so.
On clicking upload the page then displays error "page cannot be displayed" on refreshing it then displays the captive portal zones page. Checking file manager no files have been uploaded ????What am I doing wrong ??

Which pfSense version? Have you considered reinstalling the box, since - obviously - something is just not right?
-
Hi Thank you for the reply
Its
2.2.5-RELEASE (i386)
built on Wed Nov 04 15:50:18 CST 2015FreeBSD 10.1-RELEASE-p24
seems a bit drastic to reinstall it any of backing my settings up ?

Is your pfSense running on very ancient hardware ?
Or do you have another reason to use the 32 bits version ?Btw : use SFTP access. Far more easier.
-
I think he's talking about the CP file "manager". There's none, it's a simple file picker input. (SFTP ain't really a option for that, this junk gets saved into config.xml.)

Hi
Yep its old hardware an old Dell. Pity really as everything else seems to work from the basic system with no packages added.
I will have a look and see if I can file transfer them, if not, what you are saying is that the only alternative is to upgrade to newer hard ware !! shame.
Thanks for your help anyway

No, you cannot SFTP those. And – no such thing happens even on Alix. Try an in-place reinstall. Try wiping your browser cache. Try a different browser. Try a browser in safe mode. This simply doesn't normally happen no matter how shitty HW.

Checking file manager no files have been uploaded ????You've got me thinking… are you clicking on the 'Browse' button and selecting a file first BEFORE clicking the 'Upload' button?

Keep also in mind:
The total size limit for all files is 1.00 MB.
But I guess you will be fine :
@Packern:640K ought to be enough ram for anybody
Take the OS from 1981 (not 2015) and you'll be good ;D
-
As noted above - this gets saved into config.xml; stop trying to use the CP as a website if you have trouble with the limit.

Hi all
Err not trying to use it as a website, just trying to modify the login page to match customers branding, this I take it is possible as per the instructions on this forum ???
Any way got some newer hardware and used the 64 bit version NO ISSUES works as I want it too.
Must be an issue with the 32 bit version maybe ???
Any this one is solved CHEERS :)

Don't think pfSense will work on the BBC Micro or my old Compukit UK101 ( Ohio Super Board II) LOL :) :) :)

The file uploads are pretty strange if you have more than one portal defined.
I only use file upload on the first portal I defined, regardless of which portal needs the file. All the files are available to all portals and they all share the same namespace. It's pretty much a mess.

…... all portals and they all share the same namespace. It's pretty much a mess.
Well …. normally, a login page (and error page) don't have the same file footprint as a basic WP install neither ;) !?

There should only be one file manager. Either only a file manager tab page on the first portal, or every portal showing all the files. The way it is now is stupid.
