Pfsense compatible usb wifi 802.11n ap
-
Have latest version of pfsense I am looking for a compatible usb wifi 802.11n ap. I have searched I find posts that are old that says pfsense/freebsd does not support 802.11n is that still true?
I would like the newest fastest WiFi so is there is a USB single card you can recommend please do. No pci or pcie slots available not an option.

How about just an actual AP vs some stupid dongle - which sure an the hell not going to be best of anything.
-
Yea good point I'm actually going to do that. Was a dumb idea lol
-
The new unifi AC AP are very cost friendly..
-
I always like there AP's I may check it out..

I have a uap-acv2 and the new g2 uap-ac-lr running. Very happy with them, the development of the firmware and controller seems to be very active. I do believe the uap-ac-lite (gen2) is like $89 which very reasonable entry level to get you AC AP..
-
Why would you want a controller?

i bought a http://www.jetwayipc.com/content/?JBC390F541%20Series_1939.html
that already includes a WIFI card but i cant get it working
AzureWave AW-NB159H - Realtek RTL8723BE (1T1R 802.11bgn) BT 4.0if i cant get it working might replace it for a suppted pci-e mini card that is cheaper about 30 euro VS the nice ubiquiti i saw which is about 80 euro.

"1T1R"
Yeah that is crap..
Never ceases to amaze me the level of crap people use for their wifi, and then all they do is complain when its shit…
If you want wifi, spend a couple extra bucks and put in a real freaking AP...

Its going to be crap, is what its going to be. Period… I don't believe it has any freebsd support. https://www.freebsd.org/relnotes/CURRENT/hardware/support.html It barely usable for a device alone, sure not providing wifi to multiple devices. 1T1R means at best you could get is 150 PHY with short guard and 40mhz.. Not very viable.. More like 65PHY, might as well be using G at that point..
Post count, is that what your after with your cross posting, and hijacking of thread??

well a friend of mine still has a Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 which is 2x2 i think and if i google real quick it seems to be supported by 10.1 so might give that a try. Before i spend 80 euro+ on some wifi thing. what i dont use a lot
