      Hello,

      i've recently found out that if there is a file /usr/local/share/nmap/nmap-mac-prefixes, there are additional infos in the captiveportal statuspage.
      Now, the only way to get this file is to download it from https://svn.nmap.org/nmap/nmap-mac-prefixes an put it to that location, or by installing the nmap-package, where it is from.
      Are those ways really the only to get this file? Shouldn't it be part of captive portal? And also shouldn't it be updated periodically by an internal cronjob?

        And not only MAC adresses show on that page, but also DHCP leases, etc.

        Thanks for the tip. Creating the direcoty 'nmap' and the file  nmap-mac-prefixes filled up what I found here https://svn.nmap.org/nmap/nmap-mac-prefixes  showed the info on several "status" pages.

        Btw : downloading regularly a new file doesn't seem to be needed to me, I guess its rather that new entries are added to this list.

          I have no idea how often the content of this file changes. Besides, it's only a few kb in size, not worth thinking about any kind of diff-logic. Just download from time to time (maybe once a month) would be enough.
          It's almost just a "hint"-file, and give me as administrator some idea of the device connecting through my cp.

            Same here : I like this new info ;)

            But:
            [2.2.6-RELEASE][admin@pfsense.brit-******-+++++.net]/var/db: ls -al /usr/local/share/nmap/nmap-mac-prefixes
            -rw-r–r--  1 root  wheel  524534 Jan 18 15:01 /usr/local/share/nmap/nmap-mac-prefixes

            = half a mega …. which is a little bit more as "a few kb" ;)
