Unable to check for updates - 2.3 Beta built on Mon Mar 14 07:55:41 CDT 2016

Suddenly, this firewall says "Unable to check updates" yet a second firewall deployed last night running BETA (but a newer build again) can check fine for updates.
Zero firewall rule changes, DNS works, OpenVPN Client (firewall is OVPN client) for site to site VPN working, everything seems in order.
Troubling shooting steps done:

Have rebooted firewall

checked DNS settings
-
can do DNS look using diagnostics

can ping Internet from diagnostics pages
SYSTEM > SYSTEM UPDATES
reports "Unable to retrieve system versions." -

Have you enable ram disks? disable it and try again.
Ok, this could be a different problem from the unable to check updates.
