Timeout / dropping connection
-
Hello Forum,
I'm having a strange problem with.. something.. I suspect the laptop of the user but i'm not sure. I'll try and describe the problem and what i've done so far to research it. I'm using pfsense version 2.0.2
Laptop user - openvpn connection pfsense site A - Timeouts (dropping connection)
My Laptop - openvpn connection pfsense site A - no problem
Laptop user - openvpn connection pfsense site B - no problem- upgraded and downgraded openvpn on the client , no success.
- created a new user of the pf on site A , no success
- Created client specific setting to get a ip in a different part of the ip range , no success
- changed ping timeout settings on the client (higher and lower settings) , no success
Since the laptop is an old xp , i've testen a old xp with the same openvpn version and user from another connection to site A , no problem.
The logs on the pfsense at site A only mention " Inactivity timeout (–ping-restart), restarting "
Does anyone have any suggestion what i might try next ? I don't have the user laptop at hand untill Thursday , i hope someone can point me in the direction to solve this.
thank you in advance.
Regards,
Mayk

From your description, it sounds like pfSense site A and pfSense site B have OpenVPN servers. But then you have the message:
The logs on the pfsense at site A only mention " Inactivity timeout (--ping-restart), restarting "
That is generated by a client when it tries to connect every minute.
Give us a network map and details of what OpenVPN servers and clients are where.
