                Exactly.

                I think it's a bug.

Hello, I've experimented similar behavior with squid+squidguard update from 2.2.6 to 2.3, I created a thread:

                  https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=109733.0

My solution was to spam the download button in the Proxy Filter>Blacklist>Download Button.

I'm also using Shallalist for blacklist categories,

                  Hope this helps.

                    Restore default blacklist DB.
Restore error: File /var/db/squidGuard.sample or /usr/pbi/squidguard-amd64/etc/squidGuard/blacklist.files not found.

                        Dear All,

                        Problem Solved :) !!

Under Services Menu -> Proxy filter SquidGuard -> General settingsGeneral settings -> Black List options:

You need to tick mark (Check this option to enable Black List)

Plus, you need to fill the field (Blacklist URL) with the download link of your wish black list.

When above steps complete, then you proceed with the blacklist download and it will work :)

found this thread as I had the same issue.
The logs all say failed to open log files.
but if I switched from Firefox to Internet Exploder, the update works.
Probably something non-standard that Firefox does not like.
