Suricata 3.1.1

Any news on the eventual launch of Suricata 3.1.1 for Pfsense 2.3.2?

I think we scared bmeeks (the maintainer) away. According to his profile, his last post was this related one from a month ago:

His profile shows he's normally a very active member… Hope everything's okay.

Same here, the actual version of suricata has alot of issues. As I read through Suricata chagelogs, some issues were resolved, including a few issues with Netmap also. Any news about a new version in Pfsense?

I really hope bmeeks is ok and can find the time for the 3.1.1 package; I think it's great and gives my home network the perfect protection.
Be happy to donate a few bucks for beermotivation. ;)

…and now 3.1.2 is out. I much prefer Suricata over Snort, but Suricata in Freshports and pfSense have been lagging the actual Suricata development significantly lately. :( I get the feeling that Suricata is fairly low priority for the maintainers on Freshports. I think having a stable inline version of Suricata for pfSense would be a significant feature for pfSense that would certainly differentiate it from other products.

I like the extra logging features of Suricata (certificate logging, etc) so that is why I have converted all my systems to it. Subscribed.

Suricata package has been updated today from 3.0_7 to 3.0_8.
From the changelogs I see only a fix for "Suricata, a broken download should not wait forever." ,and some changes in licenses.
I don't understand, why not jumping to the latest version, with latest fixes, because they are alot ?

I also replied in a previous thread with more or less this same remark –
I have been very busy with other paying work that took away the time I had to perform volunteer package maintainer duties for Suricata and Snort. I am working this weekend on testing a package build of Suricata 3.1.1 based on the latest FreeBSD port. It is true that FreeBSD ports seems to lag quite a bit behind Suricata upstream when it comes to updates.
I hope to have a pull request ready very soon to update the Suricata binary to 3.1.1.

Thanks, that's great news.
I'm sure that all of us know that this is free software and we can't ask for an ETA.
But like you told us today, you can say from time to time, something like:"Guys, I'm very busy, have patience, it will come", just to know that the work on the package is not dead.
I hope I didn't upset you with my little comment.
Thanks again
