I really tried to find some kind of official documentation for the Darkstat package, since I really don't think this is the place for this question. But all google seems to return is brief explanations of the package on various 'nix forums and since this forum is always so helpful I thought I'd give it a spin (So sorry if this is inapprops):)

I installed Darkstat and it's working great!  I'm just a little confused and looking for help on getting the most out of using it.  I'm trying to use the hosts page to best create my traffic shaping rules.  I was most confused to see random IP address's before I realized that its not just internal hosts but, perhaps, peers from torrents as well (for example).

Is there any way to filter the hosts for only internal hosts?

Also, it seems some of my devices (maybe just the windows PC's) are listed by the ipv6 address and not their hostname or DHCP server assigned IPv4 address's.  Can I get it to use the hostnames defined in the DHCP Server?  Or configure how it looks with a text file or something?

And finally…Can I set the time frame with which the hosts page will pull the data?

I guess it might be most useful if someone could point me to detailed documentation on Darkstat, as I've been unsuccessful finding more than short write-ups so far.  Thanks in advance!

No idea about darkstat, but perhaps have a look at ntopng - it has settings to define local networks and configure DNS resolution.

ntopng looks great! But I'm running into the same issues as with Darkstat.  I just don't know how to use it.  And I keep seeing all these foreign countries in the ip's that are showing up that is making me nervous:).  How would I see a graph of local devices and how much bandwidth they're using?

I hear alot of praises for Darkstat too, but after installing it and heading to Diagnostics -> darkstat nothing happens. It tries to load forever then the page times out.

Can anyone share the setting they are using on the Diagnostics -> darkstat Settings page?
                  Thanks.
