Relative newb here.  My first attempt at using the experimental builds and thought I'd share my 2.4 upgrade experience - if it's not useful, if you need more detail or if I need to report issues in redmine do let me know.  I'll be heading over to see if there are some tests I can clear once I have this sorted.

The installation locked up, not sure if it was pre/post reboot.  Unfortunately this box goes into some kind of display sleep mode so I can't actually see if anything was displayed on the console.  It did respond to the acpi power button to shutdown properly.

The installation lost the LAN/WAN assignments, and I had to reset those at boot script.  It had retained the PPPoE connection but wasn't using it.  I do like the new way the interfaces tab is laid out now, it makes more sense.

I'm no longer seems getting IPv6 assigned from the ISP, I have a static which I can enter but would prefer not to have to.

pfBlockerNG's firewall rules reported errors, I just disabled/re-enabled it and that's sorted now.

There have been some suricata crashes, I've sent error reports and as I'm not using it right now I've not looked further.

upgrading without a console is not ideal, I can tell you when I did a upgrade to 2.4 it worked fine but there was a period of time where it spent upgrading packages in between reboots and during that time the unit might seem like its locked up as its still in the upgrade process.

I hear you on the not having a console - if it had actually rebooted then I'd have been able to see the console (it's on some kind of timeout and never comes back) but the web interface said it was done and was rebooting…  I'll have to look into that some more when I get time.
