I have a Buffalo USB WiFi adapter bridged with the LAN interface in pfsense 2.1.2.  I was having issues with the LAN link going down so I added a switch which appears to keep the LAN interface up but the WiFi will shut off after about 5 minutes if there's no activity on that interface.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior and if so were you able to correct it?

      Thank you.

Yes, we had the same problem with a p.o.s. Edimax wifi adapter.  It would work for about 5 minutes after rebooting the pfSense and then die.  I tried the card in another computer and it had the same issue, the the problem was with the card, not pfSense.

We bought the recommended Atheros card on Ebay for about $5 and it fixed the problem.

I have not used a USB wifi adapter with the pfSense, but it may be a similar issue.  Does the Buffalo adapter work ok in your own computer for extended periods of time, or does it die after 5 minutes of use even in your computer?
