      Hi,

On an upgrade from 2.3.3 to 2.4 it hangs at the ASRock screen for about a minute, isn't responsive to input, then boots to bios set up.

Boots fine on exiting the set up. Never happened previously.

On next reboot, I'll see if the bios firmware needs updating. (Doubt it, last update from vendor was 18 months ago)

      Board is an ASRock H81M-DGS

      Any thoughts?

      Jon

I have seen issues with a new 2.4 install on some hardware but this is the first time I can remember reading about one failing on upgrade. The boot info on the drive wouldn't have been changed, that would have taken a reinstall.

Anything unique/unusual about how that system ran 2.3 or was initially installed?

Not really. It started on 2.2 went up through betas -> 2.3.x to this.

It protects an infosec lab and has honeypots etc behind it, apart from that, bog standard.

On today's update, things went south

              can't find kernel
              can't find kernel
              Error while including /boot/menu.rc. in the line;
              menu-display
              /
              can't load kernel

Anyone have any thoughts on how we back out of this?

              Jon

Are you sure that disk is OK? Try a fresh install on a new disk.

I rolled it back to 2.3.3 for the time being.

I'm planning new HW for 2.4 instead.
