ASUS PCE-AC68 Dual Band Card

Not sure if this should go here or under hardware I'll try here.
Building a PFsense firewall I don't see the ASUS PCE-AC68 listed on the HCL has anyone gotten this card to work or should I just avoid the issue and purchase one on the HCL? (I already own a ASUS PCE-AC68 so I was hoping to use it once the two intel NIC I ordered get here)

When it's supported on FreeBSD… IOW, come back some 10 years later or so. Seriously, get a proper AP with RJ45 connector and forget using FreeBSD/pfSense for WiFi.

With dok - just get a real AP.. I fail to understand why people put themselves through such grief of trying to get some wifi card to work as an AP.. When you for a few $ you can get yourself a real AP designed to do exactly that.. Looks nice - mounts easy and is POE even.. And will just run and run and run.. Will for sure support vlans, can do both bands at the same time.. Will be the current wifi standards - shoot the unifi stuff now supporting DFS channels. Gets you great features like beam forming, band steering, Air Time Fairness, etc. etc..

No ETA as far as I know. These newer Wifi cards are "black box" devices that require a binary firmware from the vendor and the vendors are not willing to share any details of how you're supposed to use the device from the OS level (unless you're willing to sign an NDA), much of the existing support for 802.11n support for example is a result of reverse engineering and guess work.

Which makes for super great drives with 0 issues ;)
Can't wait for the AC versions to start coming out.. This is perfect reason to just save yourself time and effort and grief and just get a real AP.. Prob a few of them - since unless your in a small open area at 5ghz and good wifi you going to want more than just the 1 AP..
