WIFI Devices can't see or ping each other ! Why?
-
Hi everyone! :)
I have a issue that drives me crazy for 2 days !! My WIFI devices can't see each other ! ???
But let's start with the configuration first:
I am running pfsense 2.1.5 on a Alix 2D2 Wifi (3 physical interfaces, 2 Ethernet, 1 WIFI).
Interfaces:
WAN is connected to a cable modem,
LAN is an Regular Lan with a DHCP,
WIFI just enabled with no IPv4 or IPv6 configuration.LAN and WIFI are bridged together (bridge named: BRIDGE_0)
BLAN is an interface with BRIDGE_0 affected to it.
net.link.bridge.pfil_member is set to 0,
net.link.bridge.pfil_bridge is set to 1. I don't understand why, but I saw on the forum that it has to be like that. ???Firewall:
no security at all !! everything is opened to everything.
What's working:
All devices (cable or WIFI) can get an IP from the DHCP, :D
All devices can reach the Internet, :D
All devices on the LAN (cabled) can see all the other devices (cable or WIFI). :DBUT
No WIFI devices CANNOT see or ping any other WIFI devices !! :(
All WIFI devices CAN see all cabled devices. :oFor instance, my laptop (WIFI) can't see my wifi printer, but it can see my Dlink NAS (Cabled). :-\
I don't know what to do !
Is anyone has an idea on that ? :)
Thankin advance for the brainstorming !

Ok…
Problem fixed, but I don't know how... >:( I've touched so many things...
I'm so sorry for the next one with that same problem ! :-[

Your wireless AP was working in isolated mode. All traffic has to go through it, and it decides if it's going to forward that traffic to another wireless client, which typically is not something you want in an isolated AP.
-
That's easy :
you have to select :
- "Allow packets to pass between wireless clients directly when operating as an access point"
in menu : interface > (WIFI interface) > "Network-Specific Wireless Configuration"
(pfsense 2.3.3)
Idf not selected, it works in isolated mode.
- "Allow packets to pass between wireless clients directly when operating as an access point"
