TFTP Server / Port Forward
-
Hello,
I'm currently running a TFTP server on my one server. Inside the lan it works fine with no issues. I have option 150 set and my cisco phone can find this and connect. What I'm looking to try and do is have a remote cisco phone use my server as its tftp as well. I've setup a port forwarding rule of 69 to point to my server where the TFTP server is running on and if I check my IP and the port it is showing that it is closed. I've also looked at the tftp helper under advanced and had that selected for both lan and wan and it still is showing as closed. I also tried the phone and it doesn't seem to make it to the tftp server either. Anything else that needs to be done to forward port 69 for TFTP to another server on my network?

Are you testing from internal or external?
Testing from internal to the external address without hairpinning (nat reflection) might be causeing some issues. If you're testing from external, double check your firewall rules for the port forward and make sure the IPs are correct.

Hello @isolatedvirus. I've verified that this happens outside of the net considering doing this internally I would probably have an issue. As mentioned internally this works with no issues. I've compared this port foward rule to my others and they are just the same. The IP is the correct address. Unsure as to what is going on. I've tried as mentioning the tftp helper as well as trying to change between TCP / UDP / TCP/UDP and all still return closed port.

can you post a screenshot of the relevant firewall rules and port forwards you have currently? This would help me confirm youre good to go on your external rules.
The next step would be to check the TFTP server to ensure it doesnt have any kind of local firewall blocking incoming connections.
