Hello. Hopefully this is the correct place to post this question.

We just upgraded our pfSense box over this past weekend from 2.3.1-RELEASE to 2.3.4-RELEASE and everything looked like it was working normally. When I came in on Monday no one could access the internet and when I looked at the list of running processes using TOP from the pfSense server it was showing 100% CPU usage from USERNAME: squid COMMAND squid-guard  there were 18 threads all showing 24-29% CPU usage each on multiple cores.

If I kill and disable squid-guard everything works normally but once I re-enable it everything stops and it spawns 12-18 threads using 100% CPU power and grinds to a halt.

I have even tried reinstalling both squid and squid-guard with the same results. I have not uninstalled and cleared settings to see if it reproduces the same results and would prefer not to have to redo all the settings unless absolutely necessary.

Has anyone else seen something like this? We didn't change anything other than upgrade the pfSense software and it has been working fine for the the past 1-2 years previously  otherwise.

I included a screen-cap of the pfSense box in the attachments so you can see what it looks like.

        Same as me
        https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=129194.msg714146#msg714146

i try two different computers with ver2.3.3 and 2.3.4

When I change the configuration and save it (in this case squid and SquidGuard services restart), the first 1 minute processor usage is 100%, then it is gradually decreasing.

Çözümün bir parçası değilsen, sorunun bir parçasısındır.

Same problem here with both versions, upgrade or new install!!!

there is no difference between upgrade or new install.
