    My dashboard shows the following;

    2.4.0-BETA (amd64)
    built on Mon May 29 17:12:34 CDT 2017
    FreeBSD 11.0-RELEASE-p10

    Version 2.4.0.b.20170531.0938 is available

    When I try to update I get the spinning cog with the message retrieving but it just stays like that and won't update.

    This follows on from the previous update that caused my system to crash with;

    [30-May-2017 13:20:01 Europe/London] PHP Stack trace:

    Any ideas how to recover?

          Probably it's a bug. Try searching on redmine or submit a new bug report. Revert to working snapshot and wait a few days.

                I can't. The dashboard shows there is a new snapshot available but when I click to upgrade it just says 'retrieving' and goes no further.
