Squid transparent proxy disables internet access
-
Hi all,
I've been trying to set up Squid for a couple of days now, following lots of tutorials online. The problem is the following; whenever I try to enable the Squid transparent proxy to actually use Squid, the clients cannot access the internet anymore :'(. Opening a site results in a timeout error..
If someone could help me I'd very appreciate that ;D

Squid will use your firewall wan address. Does this ip is able to use internet? Try on console links www.google.com

I enabled the transparent proxy and I was still able to ping 8.8.8.8 from the webui. However, websites do not load.. Only google does..

Maybe You had better to give some more details of your configuration:
tutorial you followed…
Squid settings...
Log messages...
etc... -
have you blocked any port? check that the 80 and 443 are open and accesible from the lan to the wan. Have you tried diferent browsers?. have you installed any package?

This is the tutorial I followed. ::)
Squid settings are pretty much default. Only the few setings changed in the video are put the same on my install..

No ports are blocked and Firewall in pretty much default as my install is very new. I can access the internet completely without the proxy and if I manually set the proxy it works as well. Only packages installed are Squid, Lightsquid and Squidguard
