Ubuntu Reverse Proxy Alternative (host header redirection)
-
I have been using a Ubuntu Reverse Proxy with Apache2 (if my terms are correct) and via the router (pfSense), point all port 80 traffic to that Ubuntu box which then sends appropriate traffic based on host headers. Ex Owa.dizydiz.com to the Exchange server and www.dizydiz.com to the IIS webs server and velocitytechs.com to another webserver and cloud.dizydiz.com to my owncloud server.
One problem is that it's slow. Even with beefy resources. I even bumped up the internet. - Since all port 80 traffic goes through this Ubuntu Reverse Proxy server…I was thinking that is my bottleneck.
Does pfSense do this function? If so, can you point me to a link? I'm looking to speed things up a lot, if able. Hit those websites and see what im talking about. Is there a better way? (not including purchasing a block of static IP Addresses.)
Thanks for any hints! - DizyDiz
